Description

Jamie Oliver’s Tuna Pasta Bake is a creamy and cheesy oven-baked dish that combines canned tuna, pasta, and a savory tomato-based or creamy sauce. It’s topped with bubbling golden cheese, making it an easy and satisfying family meal.

Ingredients

Scale

    • 350g (12 oz) penne or rigatoni pasta

    • 2 tablespoons olive oil

    • 1 onion, finely chopped

    • 2 garlic cloves, minced

    • 1 x 400g (14 oz) can chopped tomatoes

    • 2 x 160g (6 oz) cans tuna in olive oil, drained

    • 200g (7 oz) frozen peas

    • 150ml (½ cup) crème fraîche or double cream

    • 100g (1 cup) grated cheddar cheese

    • 50g (½ cup) grated Parmesan cheese

    • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

    • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

    • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Pasta

    • Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) or 180°C (350°F) for fan ovens.

    • Cook the pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 2: Make the Sauce

    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté for 5-7 minutes until softened.

    • Stir in the chopped tomatoes, season with oregano, salt, and black pepper, and let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes.

Step 3: Combine the Ingredients

    • Add the drained tuna and frozen peas to the sauce. Stir well to combine and cook for 2 minutes until the peas are warmed through.

    • Mix in the crème fraîche or double cream for a creamy texture.

Step 4: Assemble the Pasta Bake

    • Combine the cooked pasta with the tuna and tomato sauce. Transfer everything to a baking dish.

    • Sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese and Parmesan evenly over the top.

Step 5: Bake the Pasta

    • Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden brown.

Step 6: Serve and Enjoy

    • Remove the tuna pasta bake from the oven and let it cool slightly. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley, and serve hot.
