Description

Jamie Oliver’s Strawberry Jam is a simple, homemade preserve bursting with fresh strawberry flavor. This easy recipe requires just a few ingredients and delivers a deliciously sweet, slightly tangy jam perfect for spreading on toast, scones, or using in desserts.

Ingredients

Scale

    • 1 kg (2.2 lbs) fresh strawberries, hulled and halved

    • 750g (3 3/4 cups) granulated sugar

    • 1 lemon, juiced

    • 120ml (1/2 cup) water

    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Strawberries

    • Wash, hull, and cut the strawberries in half.

Step 2: Cook the Strawberries

    • In a large pot, combine the strawberries, lemon juice, and water.

    • Cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries soften and release their juices.

Step 3: Add the Sugar

    • Stir in the sugar and continue cooking, stirring until fully dissolved.

Step 4: Simmer and Thicken

    • Increase the heat and bring the mixture to a rolling boil.

    • Let it simmer for about 25-30 minutes, stirring frequently.

    • If using, add vanilla extract for extra depth of flavor.

Step 5: Check for Doneness

    • To test if the jam is ready, place a spoonful on a chilled plate. If it wrinkles when pushed with a finger, it’s done.

Step 6: Store the Jam

    • Pour the hot jam into sterilized jars.

    • Seal the jars and let them cool at room temperature before storing in the fridge.
