Description
Jamie Oliver’s Chicken Souvlaki is a Greek-inspired dish made with marinated chicken skewers grilled to perfection and served with pita bread, fresh salad, and tzatziki sauce. The chicken is infused with Mediterranean flavors, creating a tasty, wholesome meal.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- Juice and zest of 1 lemon
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
For Serving
- Pita bread or flatbread
- Tzatziki sauce
- Sliced tomatoes
- Cucumber slices
- Red onion, thinly sliced
- Fresh lettuce
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, lemon juice, lemon zest, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Add the cubed chicken to the marinade, tossing to coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for best flavor.
If using a grill, preheat it to medium-high heat. If using a stovetop grill pan, heat it over medium-high heat.
Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto skewers, leaving a bit of space between each piece to ensure even cooking.
Place the chicken skewers on the grill and cook for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and has nice grill marks. The internal temperature should reach 75°C (165°F).
While the chicken is grilling, slice the tomatoes, cucumber, and red onion. Set out the pita bread and tzatziki sauce for serving.
Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the grill. Serve the chicken skewers with warm pita bread, fresh veggies, and a generous dollop of tzatziki sauce. Garnish with fresh parsley and enjoy!
