Scale
-
- 1 kg (2.2 lbs) ripe plums, pitted and chopped
-
- 750g (3 3/4 cups) granulated sugar
-
- 1 lemon, juiced
-
- 120ml (1/2 cup) water
-
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Plums
-
- Wash, pit, and chop the plums into small pieces.
Step 2: Cook the Plums
-
- In a large pot, add the plums, lemon juice, and water.
-
- Cook over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the plums soften.
Step 3: Add the Sugar
-
- Stir in the sugar and continue cooking, stirring until fully dissolved.
Step 4: Simmer and Thicken
-
- Increase the heat to bring the mixture to a rolling boil.
-
- Let it simmer for about 25-30 minutes, stirring frequently.
-
- If using, add cinnamon for extra warmth and depth of flavor.
Step 5: Check for Doneness
-
- To test if the jam is ready, place a spoonful on a chilled plate. If it wrinkles when pushed with a finger, it’s done.
Step 6: Store the Jam
-
- Pour the jam into sterilized jars while hot.
-
- Seal the jars and let them cool at room temperature before storing in the fridge.
