Ingredients
Scale
-
- 4 lamb steaks (approximately 200g each)
-
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
-
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
-
- 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped
-
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, finely chopped
-
- Zest of 1 lemon
-
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
-
- 1 tablespoon butter (optional, for cooking)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Marinade
-
- Mix the olive oil, minced garlic, rosemary, thyme, lemon zest, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
Step 2: Marinate the Lamb
-
- Rub the marinade evenly over both sides of the lamb steaks.
-
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours for deeper flavor.
Step 3: Heat the Pan or Grill
-
- Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add a drizzle of olive oil or a knob of butter.
Step 4: Cook the Lamb Steaks
-
- Place the lamb steaks in the hot pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer for your preferred doneness.
-
- Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature: 60°C (140°F) for medium-rare, 65°C (150°F) for medium, and 70°C (160°F) for well-done.
Step 5: Rest the Lamb
-
- Remove the steaks from the pan and let them rest on a plate for 5 minutes. This allows the juices to be redistributed.
Step 6: Serve and Enjoy
-
- Plate the lamb steaks and garnish with fresh herbs or a squeeze of lemon juice.
