Ingredients
Scale
For the Dough:
-
- 250g (2 cups) self-raising flour
-
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
-
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
-
- 150ml (2/3 cup) water
For the Toppings:
-
- 200ml (3/4 cup) tomato passata or pizza sauce
-
- 150g (1 1/2 cups) grated mozzarella cheese
-
- 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni (or your choice of toppings)
-
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for frying)
-
- Fresh basil leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: Make the Dough
-
- In a mixing bowl, combine the self-raising flour and salt. Add the olive oil and water. Stir to form a dough, then knead on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
Step 2: Roll Out the Dough
-
- Roll the dough into a round shape that fits the size of your frying pan. The dough should be about 1/2 cm (1/4 inch) thick.
Step 3: Heat the Frying Pan
-
- Heat a large non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and swirl to coat the base.
Step 4: Cook the Pizza Base
-
- Carefully place the rolled-out dough into the hot frying pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the base starts to brown and crisp up.
Step 5: Add the Toppings
-
- Flip the dough over and reduce the heat to medium. Spread the tomato passata evenly over the cooked side, then sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and your chosen toppings.
Step 6: Cover and Cook
-
- Cover the frying pan with a lid and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the base is golden and crispy.
Step 7: Serve
-
- Garnish with fresh basil leaves, slice, and serve hot. Enjoy your homemade frying pan pizza!
