Description
Jamie Oliver’s Chicken Wrapped in Prosciutto is a simple yet flavorful dish where boneless chicken breasts are wrapped in thin slices of prosciutto and baked until golden and crispy. The chicken remains juicy and tender, while the prosciutto adds a salty, savory crunch. It’s an easy recipe that delivers big on flavor, and you can add herbs or stuffing to make it your own.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 8 slices prosciutto (2 slices per chicken breast)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 lemon, zest only
- Fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)
- 100g (1/3 cup) cream cheese, ricotta, or mozzarella (optional, for filling)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly oil a baking dish.
Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and fresh herbs such as thyme or rosemary. If you’re using a filling like cream cheese or mozzarella, make a small slit in the side of each chicken breast and stuff it with your filling.
Lay two slices of prosciutto side by side on a cutting board. Place one chicken breast on top of the prosciutto slices and wrap them tightly around the chicken. Repeat for each chicken breast.
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. If desired, sear the wrapped chicken breasts for 2-3 minutes on each side until the prosciutto is slightly crispy. This step adds extra flavor but is optional.
Place the wrapped chicken breasts on the prepared baking sheet or baking dish. Drizzle the tops with olive oil and sprinkle with lemon zest for added flavor.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked through and the prosciutto is crispy and golden.
Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite sides, and enjoy this deliciously simple yet elegant dish.
