Description

Jamie Oliver’s Tuna Steak is a pan-seared or grilled tuna steak marinated with fresh herbs, olive oil, and lemon juice, cooked to perfection with a slightly pink center.

Ingredients

Scale
    • 2 fresh tuna steaks (about 200g each)

    • 2 tablespoons olive oil

    • Juice of 1 lemon

    • 1 clove garlic, minced

    • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme or oregano, chopped

    • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

    • Lemon wedges for serving

Optional Add-Ins:

    • 1 teaspoon chili flakes for a spicy kick

    • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard for a tangy flavor

Instructions

Step 1: Marinate the Tuna

    • In a small bowl, mix olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, thyme, salt, and black pepper.

    • Place the tuna steaks in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them, turning to coat. Let them marinate for 10-15 minutes.

Step 2: Heat the Pan or Grill

    • Heat a grill or non-stick frying pan over high heat. Brush the surface lightly with olive oil.

Step 3: Cook the Tuna

    • Place the marinated tuna steaks on the hot pan or grill. Cook for 1-2 minutes on each side for rare, or 3-4 minutes for medium. Avoid overcooking to keep the tuna tender and moist.

Step 4: Rest and Serve

    • Remove the tuna steaks from the heat and let them rest for 1-2 minutes. Serve with lemon wedges and your favorite sides.
