Description

Jamie Oliver’s Crispy Beef Salad is a fusion dish featuring crispy, golden-brown beef strips tossed with fresh salad greens, a zesty dressing, and crunchy vegetables. It’s a perfect blend of flavors and textures in one dish.

    • 300g beef steak (thinly sliced)

    • 2 tablespoons cornflour

    • 1 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder

    • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

    • 1 red chili (sliced, optional)

    • 1 thumb-sized piece of ginger (grated)

    • 2 cloves garlic (minced)

    • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

    • 1 tablespoon honey

    • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

    • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

    • 100g mixed salad leaves

    • 1 cucumber (thinly sliced)

    • 1 carrot (julienned)

    • 1 red bell pepper (sliced)

    • Handful of fresh coriander (chopped)

    • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds

    • Lime wedges (for serving)


Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Beef

    • Place the thinly sliced beef in a bowl.

    • Add cornflour and Chinese five-spice powder, tossing to coat evenly.

Step 2: Cook the Beef

    • Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat.

    • Add the coated beef slices in batches and cook until crispy and golden brown.

    • Remove and drain on paper towels.

Step 3: Make the Dressing

    • In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, grated ginger, and minced garlic.

    • Stir well to combine.

Step 4: Assemble the Salad

    • Arrange mixed salad leaves, sliced cucumber, carrot, and bell pepper in a serving bowl.

    • Add crispy beef on top.

Step 5: Final Touches

    • Drizzle the dressing over the salad and toss lightly.

    • Garnish with fresh coriander, sliced chili, and toasted sesame seeds.

    • Serve with lime wedges for an extra citrusy kick.
