Description
Jamie Oliver’s Chocolate Tiramisu is a rich, layered Italian dessert featuring coffee-soaked sponge fingers, a mascarpone cream filling, and decadent layers of chocolate. It’s a perfect blend of sweetness and richness with a coffee kick.
Ingredients
-
- 200g dark chocolate (70% cocoa solids)
-
- 400g sponge fingers (ladyfingers)
-
- 300ml strong coffee (cooled)
-
- 4 large eggs (separated)
-
- 100g caster sugar
-
- 500g mascarpone cheese
-
- Cocoa powder (for dusting)
-
- Optional: 50ml coffee liqueur (like Tia Maria or Kahlúa)
Instructions
Melt the dark chocolate using a double boiler or in the microwave in short bursts. Once melted, set aside to cool slightly.
Brew a strong cup of coffee and let it cool to room temperature. If you want to add a kick, stir in the coffee liqueur at this stage.
In a large bowl, whisk the egg yolks with the caster sugar until pale and fluffy. Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese until smooth and well combined.
In a separate clean bowl, whisk the egg whites until they form stiff peaks. Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the mascarpone mixture to create a light, airy filling.
Dip the sponge fingers briefly into the cooled coffee (making sure not to soak them too long), and arrange a layer of them at the bottom of a large dish. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the sponge fingers, followed by a drizzle of the melted chocolate. Repeat the layers with the remaining sponge fingers and mascarpone mixture.
Drizzle the remaining melted chocolate on top of the final mascarpone layer, and then dust generously with cocoa powder.
Cover the tiramisu with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight for the best flavor. Serve chilled, dusted with extra cocoa powder for garnish.
